Organization of the District Attorney's Office
The Office of the District Attorney is comprised of 155 prosecutors, investigators, and administrative staff. In a typical year we receive approximately 15,000 criminal complaints. Our office is organized for vertical prosecution, which means that the prosecutor assigned to a case will prosecute that case from beginning (an indictment or bill of information) to end (conviction and sentencing).

The First Assistant District Attorney is responsible for supervising all of the operations of the office of the district attorney. She also serves as district attorney in the absence of the elected district attorney, prosecutes criminal cases involving police misconduct, and manages our legal obligations to the Grand Jury of the Parish of East Baton Rouge.
